City Noise, Leipzig

From July 17 to 19, ZiMMT e.V. in Leipzig hosted City Noise, a group exhibition curated by Unknown Person Publishing and Kafedra Gallery. I’m genuinely happy and honored to have been part of it — my project was selected for the show, and seeing it up on the wall alongside work by other photographers was one of those moments that makes all the quieter, harder parts of a project feel worth it.

The piece I showed, The Noise of Protest, comes out of the Belgrade protests of 2025. It pairs cropped building facades with equally cropped faces pulled from the crowd — the city’s own face set against the private, momentary face of the person moving through it. Alongside that, the work includes a typology of portraits, each protester photographed with a whistle in hand: a deliberately literal, almost catalogue-like take on the exhibition’s theme, where the “noise” of the city is returned to its actual source — the sound a crowd makes when it refuses to stay silent.

Thank you to Unknown Person Publishing and Kafedra Gallery for the invitation, and to everyone who stopped by the show, asked questions, and looked closely. More on the project — and hopefully more shows — soon.
